I have been walking in Brenchley Gardens every day for twelve years. It is fine early doors apart from people drinking on the benches by the entrances, but as the day goes on it deteriorates. The gardener's do a valiant job, and I believe there is only one now, but the entrance to the gardens is now a bit of a dump since they were ordered to remove some of the shrubsThe irony is that underneath the signs asking people not to drink there are tins, bottles and wrappers all in view of the CCTV cameras, which I suspect don't work. But this is just something one has to expect in Maidstone. I live right in the centre of town and never see anyone patrolling anywhere, hence we live in a very run down town which I once was pleased to move to twenty five years ago and now am planning to leave
A really nice place to wall around! Except between 3-5pm school kids everywhere.
Benchley is appropriate name.It is well laid out with a lot of benches around the border adjacent to a pathway. Pleasant, quiet, central rectangle is just grass flower beds around the edges. Cool for summer, pretty in spring, a bit windy in autumn and winter.
Beautiful garden with benches spread around. favoured by youthful teenagers.
Gardens neglected full if weeds. Bit of a no go area, lots of druggies/homeless guys hang out here. Well known for it. People do use it for lunch breaks, but really a walk though to train station.
