Went here for a friends birthday party. I'm pretty sure that it is in the old Corn Exchange so it has a very bare stone feeling to it, which gives it a very Spanish taberna feel. I will say this, the food here is one of the best that I have eaten outside of rural Spain. They try really hard to make you feel like you are in Spain, they even had a quite good Spanish dancer and guitarist. Not sure if this was just for the event or it was on most evenings. Good food, good atmosphere and staff that tried really hard to make your evening enjoyable.
What a grand eating venue. The historic building that houses La Taberna feels more in tune with Octoberfest celebrations than quaint Spanish dining. That said, with decor and atmosphere in line with a Latin flavour you could swear you were transported to an Iberian eatery.Service is humble, with a definite family feel. Staff are happy smiley and serve with care. Food is light and punchy, definitely in line with Mediterranean food Ive eaten in the past.An enjoyable, albeit not the most intimate, experience, great for groups.
